Job Summary and Qualifications
Directs daily custodial and laundry services operations to ensure that employees have appropriate supplies and equipment to perform their assigned job duties. Actively participate to ensuring that the hospital is in compliance with all current regulatory standards.

Position responsibilities:
Determines organization of department as needed. Selects, trains, supervises, appraises performance, initiates and recommends salary changes, promotions, discharges and all other personnel changes. Establishes work schedules and assignments. Counsels, disciplines, and discharges employees in consultation with the Director of Support Services, HR and Administration
Plans and schedules services of department within budget; establishes standards and work methods; takes steps to assure quality of performance and evaluates results. Keeps informed on new methods, equipment, etc., and establishes plan for improving department to accomplish work with efficiency and economy
Communicates policies and procedures, discusses job problems and employee concerns, and encourages development of habits and attitudes
Ensures daily work performance of environmental services employees with regard to terminal cleaning and room turn over is completed in an efficient and effective manner and communicated properly to the pertinent departments
Continuously assesses and improves the performance of services provided; maintains quality control programs as appropriate. Responsible for process improvement programs for environmental services
Reviews monthly DOR in a timely manner utilizing expense control to maintain hospital budgetary requirements
Must understand and work towards the compliance of all State, Federal and Local Regulations
Performs efficiently with CPCS and other computer software
Attends meetings, in services and other educational programs to maintain competency requirements
Responsible for overall management and procurement of necessary products and equipment for the department
Implements quality improvements and communicates them to the employees of the environmental services department
Oversight of relevant contracts for environmental services (i.e... removal of hazardous waste from hospital)
Serves as core team leader for Environment of Services section of the Environment of Care chapter, as well as meeting all standards for JCAHO Coordinates the preparation of summaries of deficiencies, problems, failures, and user errors related to managing environmental services
Reports hospital deficiencies to the Director of Support Services
Monitors work environment conditions regarding work-related hazards and exposures. Takes corrective action as appropriate when unsafe hazardous condition exists in the hospital
Analyzes and interprets trends regarding incidents and develops plans and strategies for minimizing risk exposures and liability
Monitors all applicable standards and regulations as promulgated by JCAHO, State Board of Health, State Fire Marshall, and other regulatory agencies and third parties
Participates in Hospital Quality Assurance program. Coordinates the preparation of summaries on findings, recommendations, actions taken, and results of PI activities
Reviews all necessary documentation, such as OSHA records, work site monitoring of hazardous exposures levels, etc. Participates in hazard surveillance and incident reporting
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding patient and strategic hospital information
Coordinates the on-going collection and dissemination of other sources of information, such as published hazard notices or recall reports.
Participates in developing policies and procedures within the environmental services department
Performs efficiently with CPCS
Attend Code of Conduct training course annually
Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct
Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct
Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates.
Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:
High School graduate
Above average communication skills in all forms Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:
At least one year experience in motel, hotel or health care housekeeping supervision
