Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Fastener is accepting applications for the position of Quality Supervisor. This position will report directly to the Technical Services Manager. The Quality Supervisor is a member of the Nucor Fasteners Leadership Team and is responsible for all functions related to our quality team and laboratory, such as:

  • Safety

  • Teammates Development & Training

  • Budgeting & Cost Control

  • In-process Quality Controls

  • Product Testing (dimensional, proof load, tensile properties, hardness, magnetic particle, micro-hardness, rotational capacity, tensional control assembly testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, and others).

  • Management of Non-Conforming Products & Cost of Poor Quality

  • Metrology

  • Quality Systems and accreditations ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and A2LA ISO 17025.

  • PPAPs, process capability (CP, CPK), process performance (PP, PPK) analysis and GRRs.

  • Application of Six Sigma tools to improve process capability, eliminate defects, along with implementing/generating Quality KPIs and reviewing trends to develop action plans.

  • Assistance to Technical Services team for the investigation and resolution of quality claims.

    The Quality Supervisor will be based at our St. Joe, IN site.

    Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor, therefore, candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold all safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree in a related field (e.g., Automotive Management/Engineering, Industrial, Metallurgical, Materials, or Mechanical) or ASQ Certification

  • Three (3) years or more manufacturing and/or quality control/systems experience including hands-on experience in conducting mechanical and dimensional tests in an industrial setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current and/or prior experience in quality, operations or manufacturing in the fasteners, steel or automotive industry

  • Knowledge & application of ISO, IATF 16949 & A2LA ISO 17025

  • Previous experience leading a team

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply ASME, ASTM, ISO, and other relevant product and testing specifications to ensure compliance in at least 3 previous projects or assignments within a manufacturing or engineering context
