Huntington County Highway Department is recruiting for a Mechanic for the Highway Department
Responsibilities include performing a variety of maintenance, diagnostic, and repair duties including repairs to electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems. The mechanic also performs welding and fabrication to trucks and truck beds, including cutting truck beds, re-welding, cutting and removing frames, and fabricating fuel tanks, hydraulic tanks, and hitches for trucks.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and hold at least a class B CDL. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in heavy equipment maintenance. Ability to effectively communicate in a courteous and tactful manner with co-workers, foremen, truck drivers, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. This position requires the ability to prioritize critical repairs and maintenance and work in an effective manner.
Work hours are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Must be open to working extended hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Pay range is up to $26.74 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
