Job Title: Academic Advisor (31634)
Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Central Advising Academic Advisor in our Central Advising - VPA Advising Center. This position provides advising, continual support, and strategic direction to assigned student groups and advising load.
The annual salary for this position is $43,888.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individual academic advising, both face-to-face and online, to current and prospective students.
- Advise and guide students in developing and maintaining a plan of study that meets graduation requirements.
- Maintain a consistent pattern of contact with advising caseload.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with students and constituents across the institution.
- Serve as liaison to academic departments/colleges to collaborate with and support students.
- Teach or serve as a teaching assistant for student success courses.
- Participate in orientation and recruiting activities designed to attract new students.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelors degree.
- Knowledge of theories and best practices as they apply to academic advising in a college or university setting.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, project management and customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of student informational systems (Banner, Degree Works, AdvisorTrac).
- Basic skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- All advising professionals must complete annual university advisor training and ongoing professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Masters degree.
- Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Experience in Higher Education student advising.
